Jose Mourinho would love to meet former club Chelsea in the final of the UEFA Champions League. After qualifying, Mourinho could be reunited with Chelsea, who he led to two Premier League titles, one FA Cup and two League Cups between 2004 and 2008, in the last eight. The Real Madrid boss on Wednesday night saw his side progress to the quarter-finals with a 5-2 aggregate win over CSKA Moscow.
Any meeting between the Portuguese and Chelsea would be given extra spice given he is being linked with a summer return to London following Andre Villas-Boas sacking. But Mourinho, who has already defeated Chelsea with Inter Milan in the 2009/10 Champions League, would rather wait until May's final in Munich to again face his ex-club. And Mourinho told Sky Sports after defeating CSKA: "People can't understand how much I love Inter and Chelsea and how much I love the boys and how much I wish them good.
"I know, if I get them in the quarters, or semis, or final, they will be a great opponent. I am so happy for the boys (Chelsea players), because they have incredible character. "They have had a hard time, but now happiness is coming."
Chelsea are the only remaining English team in the Champions League and Real's former Liverpool star, Xabi Alonso, would like to face a British team in the quarter-finals. The Spain midfielder would be suspended for first leg after being booked against CSKA, but renewing a European rivalry with Chelsea, who he helped eliminate from two Champions League semi-finals while at Liverpool, is something which appeals.
Alonso said: "We will see what happens in the draw. If we meet them, it is going to be exciting, because it is always good to be back playing in England. "With the change of manager, they are getting good results. There is still a long way to go."
