Arsene Wenger: We played very attacking football

Arsene Wenger: We played very attacking football
The main Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger refused to blame his team's sensational defeat by Bradford as part of the English League Cup quarter-final.
«This was a typical Cup match, which was held at the heavyweight field. In General, I can't blame the players of Arsenal's lack of diligence. The box was a bit slippery. The opponent is very deep and just make the ball was on the defensive front. We played very attacking football, a whole hour on the field had five forwards, we've had a lot of chances, but the opponent is well protected. It is difficult to play in this game, and when it comes to penalties, you always know how it can end,» - Wenger said.

Arsene: Scoring is harder than defending

Arsene: Scoring is harder than defending
Although his Arsenal side have shipped away five goals in their last two Premier League matches, manager Arsene Wenger is more relieved to see that they have also scored eight to pick up four of the six points up for grabs.
Wenger was seen expressing his frustrations at the touchline throughout the Gunners’ dramatic 3:3 draw against Fulham nine days ago but later insisted that there were positives to be taken from the fixture.
This past Saturday, the gaffer was joined by millions of Gooners across the world to celebrate an emphatic 5:2 derby win over bitter cross-town rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
That one victory was able to push a struggling Arsenal side back into the top six, only five points adrift of Chelsea, who occupy the third place that Arsenal sealed at the end of last season.
As far as Wenger is concerned, the free-scoring form of his attack indicates the accomplishment of a far tougher task than fixing defensive issues, which his side continues to get criticized for.
“I believe it is always easier to correct the defensive side than getting your team to score goals. When you score goals, you always have a chance,” Wenger told Arsenal TV.
The Frenchman then added: “I am confident that the defense will be quite sound once everybody is used to playing with each other. We won many balls [against Tottenham] as a team and we want to continue to work on that.”
Indeed, offensive dominance cannot alone end Arsenal’s seven-year trophy drought. While one can understand the team’s joy at being able to score again following the uninspiring offensive display throughout the 2-1 defeat away to Manchester United a little over a fortnight ago, evidence of defensive chaos remains disturbing.
They were guilty of giving away a two-goal cushion to Schalke in the UEFA Champions League to merely get a draw on match-day four and even the memorable 7-5 win over Reading in the Capital One Cup will always be noted for the four goals the Gunners conceded to the lowly Royals in the first half itself.
Wednesday’s Champions League match at home to Montpellier will provide the team with a much-needed opportunity to earn a clean sheet and return to being defensively competent.

One reason Arsenal fans don’t like Man United

One reason Arsenal fans don’t like Man United
The Arsenal fans were accused of having no class by Rio Ferdinand after the match against Manchester United on Saturday. In doing so, Ferdinand reinforced one of the reasons that Arsenal fans, along with most others, don’t like United. Hypocrisy.
Ferdinand’s ill chosen words were because of the away fans giving Robin van Persie some abuse. Has he never heard Tevez getting stick? It is part of football. Everybody knew that van Persie would get stick from the Arsenal fans after he chose to abandon us for our hated rivals.
Okay, some of the chants were not nice, but Arsene Wenger has had to put up with years of taunting from the United fans because of some stupid internet rumour nearly 20 years ago, with no truth to it. So Ferdinand thinks it’s fine for United fans to call Wenger a paedophile for 16 years does he? Really classy Rio.
It just seems to be the way with United. They have Ashley Young flinging himself to the ground week in, week out and then Ferguson and Jonny Evans stating that Torres should have been sent off despite proof that Evans had clipped him.
Don’t even get me started on Fergie time and penalties. Evra claiming that Wilshere was trying to injure him when he was obviously going for the ball is typical. I wonder if they actually believe what they are saying, or if they just do it to wind people up. It’s worked on me, anyway.

Arsene Wenger is very happy with the German players

Arsene Wenger is very happy with the German players
Arsene Wenger has already got in the Arsenal team, and the two youngsters knocking on the door of the first team. The Frenchman may soon have some more teutonic talent as Arsenal are keen to get their scouts to find more up and coming players in Germany. Arsenal are, therefore, planning to devote alot more energy into spotting players in Germany, with chief scout Steve Rowley already spending much of his time in the country.
Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski have been two of Arsenal’s best and most consistent performers this season, while Serge Gnabry and Thomas Eisfeld have been very impressive for the under-21s and look like being the next youngsters to break through into the first team. German football is on the up at the minute, highlighted by Dortmund and Schalke in the Champions League. Bayern Munich were unlucky not to lift the trophy last season, while the national team has improved immensely since bringing the younger players through.

Theo Walcott has warned Tottenham

Thomas Vermaelen struck in the fifth minute of injury time after connecting with Walcott's cross as fourth-placed Arsenal moved to within one point of North London rivals Spurs. Theo Walcott has warned Tottenham that Arsenal have them firmly in their sights after he set up the Gunners' winning goal in Monday night's 2-1 victory over Newcastle. Walcott was also involved in the first goal, setting up the Robin van Persie for the equaliser just 55 seconds after Hatem Ben Arfa had put Newcastle ahead.
And the England international was in bullish mood at the full-time whistle, as he told Sky Sports 1 HD: "Tottenham have got to be watching over their shoulders now. "With the squad of players we've got - and we've got a lot of players coming back to fitness now - we believe that we can go much further. "We're just getting our jobs right. Defensively we've been fantastic. We know we can always score goals, but lately we've not been conceding too many, and that stat is fantastic." "In the second half, we were pushing and pushing. We knew we had to be patient and in the end we will score a goal, and that's what happened today."
The match marked the first time a team had come from behind to win in four successive Premier League matches, and game-winner Vermaelen added: "We showed the mentality of fighters. It's the fourth time we've come back from 1-0 down.
